Texas Homebuyers Have Mixed Feelings About the Real Estate Market, New Poll Finds

A new survey from Texas Realtors reveals that homebuyers across the state have mixed experiences when it comes to purchasing a home in 2025.

In this first-of-its-kind poll, more than 350 real estate agents were asked about how their clients felt while buying homes this year. Here’s what they found:

📊 Most buyers are finding options — but not all are happy.
Two-thirds of buyers said they had enough homes to choose from, while about 20% felt there weren’t enough listings that met their needs.

💸 High prices still a major obstacle.
Among clients who stopped searching, 42% said homes were simply too expensive, and 30% said they couldn’t find the features they wanted.

⚖️ Competition remains — but not as intense as before.
About 39% of buyers faced multiple-offer situations, while 57% said they didn’t. Nearly two-thirds (63%) made offers on more than one home before finally closing a deal.

🏠 Patience pays off.
Most homebuyers (73%) said they had enough time to buy a home without feeling rushed. Still, 18% admitted they felt some pressure to make quick decisions.

💬 Realtors say timing is personal.
“The right time to buy is whenever it’s right for the individual,” said Christy Gessler, Chairman of Texas Realtors. “Our job is to help clients understand the market that matters most — their own.”

As Gessler noted, Texas doesn’t have one single market. There are many “micro-markets” — meaning what’s true in Austin or Houston might be very different in Lubbock or El Paso.

For now, Texas homebuyers are adjusting, balancing affordability, availability, and opportunity in a market that’s still recovering from pandemic-era highs.
