Sandra Lee, the celebrity chef and TV host, shared emotional news about her Malibu home surviving the devastating Palisades Fire.
While she’s grateful her house is still standing, she admitted feeling guilty knowing so many others lost their homes.
A Tearful Discovery
On January 8, Sandra first thought her home, Avalon, was destroyed. She posted a heartbreaking Instagram Reel saying, “I don’t have a home anymore. My house is gone.”
But just a day later, her real estate agent called with surprising news her house was one of only 10 in her neighborhood that survived.
Sandra visited the property and shared her relief and disbelief on Instagram: “I could not believe my eyes.
I don’t know how it survived, but I thank the firefighters for their quick action.”
Survivor’s Guilt
Despite the relief, Sandra said she feels guilty knowing others weren’t as fortunate. “I feel so sad for those who lost loved ones or their homes.
My heart is with everyone affected,” she wrote. Sandra also mentioned two of her closest friends lost their homes to the fire.
A Thank You to Firefighters
Sandra expressed gratitude to the firefighters and first responders who worked tirelessly to protect Los Angeles.
She urged her followers to join her in praying for the affected communities. “For me, I will thank God every day,” she said.
The Bigger Picture
The Palisades Fire started on January 7 and has already burned more than 23,700 acres with only 14% containment, according to officials.
Other fires in the Los Angeles area, including the Eaton Fire, have also caused widespread destruction.
Sandra’s story serves as a reminder of the devastation caused by wildfires and the importance of supporting those impacted.
