A wildfire called the Franklin Fire is spreading fast in Malibu, one of the wealthiest areas in Southern California.
The fire, driven by strong Santa Ana winds, has already burned over 3,000 acres.
As of Tuesday evening, it shut down all schools in Malibu, closed parts of the Pacific Coast Highway, and forced Pepperdine University students to stay inside for safety.
The fire is still not under control, and some important landmarks, like the Malibu Pier, have been affected, though it’s unclear how badly.
The fire has forced about 2,000 homes to evacuate, including some expensive mansions owned by celebrities.
A $21 million mansion on Malibu Road, once owned by rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West), is under evacuation orders, as well as a beach house seen in Lana Del Rey’s “High by the Beach” music video.
The fire is also threatening Carbon Beach, also known as Billionaire’s Beach, home to billionaire Larry Ellison and other famous people.
Even the popular Nobu restaurant and a $20 million mansion nearby are in danger.
One of California’s most expensive homes, bought by Beyonce and Jay-Z for $190 million, is also under an evacuation warning.
The Malibu Beach Inn, a high-end hotel, had to close because of the fire.
Authorities have ordered everyone in the evacuation zone to leave immediately for their safety.
