A cracked driveway does not always need full replacement, but not every driveway is worth patching either. In DFW, soil movement, drainage, tree roots, and slab thickness can decide whether repair will last.

Repair may make sense when
- Cracks are narrow and limited.
- The driveway is mostly level.
- Damage is cosmetic.
- The concrete is not severely broken.
- Drainage problems can be corrected.
Replacement may make sense when
- Multiple sections are broken.
- Large slabs have sunk or lifted.
- Tree roots damaged the base.
- The driveway has drainage problems.
- The existing concrete is thin or badly installed.
Leveling is a middle option
If the concrete is still strong but sunken, concrete leveling or foam lifting may be a cheaper option than replacement. If the slab is shattered, leveling will not fix the real issue.
Do not forget drainage
Driveways fail faster when water sits under the slab or runs across the wrong areas. Ask how grading and runoff will be handled.
