Guess what? Ladies’ Mile, one of NYC’s most famous shopping streets, just got a big win!
Despite rumors that the area was losing its spark, Burlington Coat Factory is making a major move by doubling its space in the historic 620 Sixth Avenue building.
This vintage 1896, cast-iron beauty isn’t just old-school cool—it’s becoming a retail hot spot again.
Burlington’s Big Move
Burlington signed a 12-year lease for nearly 80,000 square feet of space across three levels.
That’s double the size of their current store at 695 Sixth Avenue, where they’ll leave behind 40,000 square feet.
The new location was once home to Bed Bath & Beyond, which went bankrupt and left the space empty.
The lease is another win for the building’s owners, RXR Realty and Hudson Bay Capital, who rescued 620 Sixth with a $320 million loan in 2021 after the pandemic left it half-empty.
Today, almost all of its 500,000 square feet of retail and office space is filled, with only 8,000 square feet still available and rumor has it another exciting tenant is on the way.
A Retail Revival
The Ladies’ Mile Historic District, running from West 14th to West 23rd streets, is anything but quiet.
Big names like Trader Joe’s, Old Navy, and The Container Store keep the area buzzing alongside smaller gems like Blick Art Supplies and Genius Gems, a fun magnetic-tile play space.
Even with Burlington leaving 695 Sixth Avenue, sources say that space might not hit the market it could be turned into apartments.
Office Space Wins, Too
620 Sixth Avenue isn’t just about shopping. It’s attracting major office tenants, too.
Big names like tech firm Palantir signed on for 140,000 square feet, while Current, a mobile banking app, took 72,000 square feet, and Cole Haan renewed their lease for 62,000 square feet.
Why It Matters
This isn’t just about one building; it’s proof that NYC’s retail and office markets are bouncing back stronger than ever.
Burlington’s commitment to doubling its space shows confidence in Ladies’ Mile’s future as a prime destination for shoppers and businesses alike.
The Bottom Line
The historic Ladies’ Mile is thriving, not fading. With Burlington, Trader Joe’s, and more keeping the area lively, this part of Manhattan proves it’s still one of the best places for retail and real estate action. If you thought NYC was slowing down, think again!
