Dallas-Fort Worth Welcomes Nearly One-Third of All Texas Movers

Dallas-Fort Worth (D-FW) continues to dominate Texas’ housing and migration trends. According to the Texas Migration Report from HireAHelper, nearly 520,000 people moved to the D-FW area last year — about 32% of all moves in the state.

Many of these new residents came from Houston (19%), Austin (13%), and San Antonio (8%), while Texas as a whole saw about 265,000 people move in from other states — roughly 60 new arrivals every day.

That growing demand continues to shape the Dallas real estate market, with new industrial and residential projects breaking ground across the region.

New Developments Fueling Growth:

  • VanTrust Real Estate announced 121 Commerce Park in McKinney, a two-building industrial project totaling over 511,000 square feet.
  • Blackstone’s Tricon Residential opened two new single-family rental communities in Saginaw and Garland, adding over 260 new townhomes to the market.
  • Outrigger Industrial and Longpoint Partners sold a 300,000-square-foot industrial property in McKinney.
  • Rosewood Court in Uptown Dallas signed new office leases with Brookfield Properties and Neuberger Berman, bringing occupancy to 98%.

Experts say the continued influx of residents and corporate expansion keeps fueling both residential and commercial demand in North Texas.
